 It has emerged as a famous Tibetan colony. Often called the Little Lhasa at 1770m this is the residence of His Holiness Dalai Lama. The Tibetan Government-in-exile has been here for over three decades. The impressive monastery has larger than life images of the Buddha, Padmasambhava and Avaloktwshwara. The Tibetan Institute of performing Arts (TIPA) is just i km. walk from Mcleod Ganj and preserves a number of musical dance and theatrical traditions of Tibet. There is also a Tibetan Handicraft centre located there. |
